Getting Between Islands (Mitsushima)

The primary means of transportation between Zamami Village’s islands is the Mitsushima Inter-Island Ferry.

In addition to the Mitsushima Inter-Island Ferry, visitors can travel between Zamami and Aka on either the Queen Zamami or Ferry Zamami depending on the time of day.  The Queen Zamami costs 300 yen.  The Ferry Zamami costs 200 yen.  Check the schedule below for times  The Queen and the Ferry take about 10 minutes.  However, the ferry sometimes runs a little bit slow.

Aka, Geruma, and Fukaji islands are connected by bridges.  There is a taxi service and various rentals on Aka Island.  Check the Getting Around page for more information.

Visitors can also travel to Tokashiki Village on the Mitsushima by reservation.  You may reserve tickets from Zamami Village to Tokashiki’s Aharen Port until 17:00 the day before you travel.  The Mitsushima can make one trip in the morning and one trip in the afternoon to Aharen.  It costs 800 yen to go to Aharen as Tokashiki charges a 100 yen tax on incoming visitors.  It costs 700 yen to travel to Zamami Village as there is no additional taxes levied by Zamami.

Mitsushima to Tokashiki’s Aharen Port

As explained above, the Mitsushima Inter-Island Ferry can bring visitors to and from Tokashiki Village upon advanced reservation.  Reservations are accepted until 17:00 the day before the intended date of travel.  The Mitsushima stops at Aka Port before heading along to Aharen.
